Sometimes things just work
This morning, I began work on severely revising a very crucial chapter and scene in my novel. I feel so blessed that for some reason, by all chances, things came together to create a scene that feels so honestly perfect. Sometimes it happens. Most of the time you get through a chapter or scene and feel ok about it. To know that it will be much better after revisions. Not so today. I took something that was ok, and brought it something I'd be so proud to share with everyone. B

Gonna get cold tonite
Woke up to 70 degree weather. Four hours later is plunging below 50 and more to come. Yesterday I finalized the website and got the Blog started with some questions I've heard others ask after I tell them "I'm writing a novel." This afternoon I'll be re-writing chapter 89, because some very important plot points aren't addressed as well as they should have in the first draft. I'm going from "This works but isn't that shocking" to "Hold my beer!" Without spilling too much, a c

What are Beta readers?
Beta readers are simply people that enjoy books in the genre and read a draft of a novel to provide the author feedback. They don’t need any experience. But they have to, at a minimum enjoy books in the same genre as the novel they are reading. From my Facebook post, I’ve got a number of potential beta readers. And I think that’s great!! I'll get in touch soon with them to discuss. I only need about five people. So, I'll have to take a weed eater to the list.

Why should I wait for the Novel?
Why do I write? Well… maybe I shouldn’t. 😏 But if you’re someone who devours audiobooks while chopping onions for the kids’ dinner, who falls asleep mid-chapter with a stupid grin because the story just landed right, who dog-ears a paperback in a dozen places over a single week and still leaves it open on the nightstand like an invitation for tomorrow, then yeah, you might get it. I’m one of those people. The one who listens for two straight hours in the kitchen, headphones

Why should I care?
Why? Well, maybe you shouldn't. :) For those who read and listen to audiobooks. For those who really enjoy a good story and want more. I write because I'm one of those people. Those who will spend two hours listening to an audiobook while making dinner for their kids. Those people who fall asleep to a really good story and find themselves smiling into their pillow when they sure as Hell know they should be asleep. Those people who pick up a paperback and after a week, find a

Is this a Romantasy (romance/fantasy)?
Good question Sara! Yes, there are aspects of the Romantasy genre contained in the pages. For instance, there are romantic entanglements and some scenes do get more than a little spicy. With that said, I would have Romantasy as a sub-genre, overshadowed by the Modern Fantasy primary genre. If you pick up this book hoping for Fourth Wing , you might not get enough of what you want. I'll leave it to my beta readers and editors to expound any further. They might want me to go mo

How long will the Novel be?
I expect EVERWHERE to come in at around 150,000 words. Depending on typesetting and all, that's between 450-550 pages. Unabridged audiobook (which is planned) will run around 15-20 hours.

How many POV characters are there?
Thanks Sis for this question! The novel is written in 3rd person, with the main character (Ever) getting the love in perhaps 75% of the over 100 chapters. The other five get the remainder. The POV characters include Ever, Annabelle, Natalie, Beau, Duncan, James and Zoe. Here and there, an odd chapter is following others - but these are the main characters of the story. All are fish out of water as they try and survive in a fantasy world they know nothing about.

What genre is this book?
When it comes to genre, the book is more of a blender of a few. There are thriller elements, particularly in the beginning as craziness occurs in our modern world. It becomes much more fantasy after the first sixty pages. Think "Fish out of Water" fantasy trope. There's also a smattering of the Literary RPG genre, though you won't find "Character Sheets" or anything remotely like that - more of a general power curve that is incorporated into the story. While not necessarily a

More concept art
More cover concept art. Most recent idea but will probably change after my artist gets his hand on it.

Some concept art for cover
When I was struggling with a title - a month or two ago. Also when the main character was named Peter. My sister didn't like his name, so it was changed after her dog "ever". :)
